Description	:	Floyd L. Messer, 89, of Ida Grove, Iowa, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, at Willow Dale Care Center in Battle Creek, Iowa. He was born Dec. 14, 1910, on the Adam Messer homestead northwest of Odebolt, Iowa. Burial was in the Ida Grove Cemetery. He was the son of Charles and Minnie (Konradi) Messer. Messer, 89, of Ida Grove, Iowa, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, at Willow Dale Care Center in Battle Creek, Iowa. He was born Dec. 14, 1910, on the Adam Messer homestead northwest of Odebolt, Iowa. Burial was in the Ida Grove Cemetery. He was the son of Charles and Minnie (Konradi) Messer. He grew up and received his education in the Odebolt area, graduating from Odebolt High school in 1928. Following graduation, Floyd began working as an automotive mechanic for Hall Motor Co. (later Baxter Motors), in Ida Grove. There he met and later married, on March 2, 1934, Loraine Moorhead. In 1943, Floyd entered the United States Army, serving 2 ½ years overseas during World War II as a T-4 Sgt. with the 784th Automatic Anti-Aircraft Battalion. After his honorable discharge in 1945, Floyd opened Messer's Service Garage at his home in Ida Grove. In 1963, he began working as a salesman for Midtown Motors, retiring in 1975. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Loraine in 1995; one sister, Mildred Moore; and two grandchildren, Anthony and Julie Messer. Survivors include three children, James Messer of Richmond, Va., Jerry Messer and wife Joan of Newport, Mn.; and Judy Bauer and husband Stanley of Omaha, Ne.; 6 grandchildren, Jenni Messer, Abbi Messer, Travis Messer and wife Heather; Traci (Messer) Stewart and husband Michael; Erin Bauer, Abby Bauer; 2 great granddaughters, Samantha Messer and Jessie Stewart; 3 great grandsons, Kyle Stewart, Richard, Stewart, and Tyler Messer; and one sister, Parthiena Fredericksen of Des Moines, Iowa.
