Expressions of sympathy may be extended to the family through mountfuneralhome.com. Floyd Luther Franssens was born on February 11, 1923 in rural Platte, SD to Henry and Anna (Luther) Franssens. He attended the Koster Signal #3 Country School and went on to work for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, WA during WWII. Floyd returned home to a career in farming and raising cattle. On March 2, 1949 he was united in marriage to Sylvia Mellema in Mitchell, SD. Floyd built their home and all the out buildings on their farm. He also served as a member of the Township Board, Rural Water Board and the Hospital Board. Floyd was preceded in death by: his wife, Sylvia (Nov. 13, 1992); his parents, Henry and Anna; three brothers: Alvin Franssens, Raymond Franssens and Arthur Franssens; a sister, Marjorie DePaoli; and a brother-in-law, Gerrit (Gladys) Mellema. Floyd is survived by his son, Randy, of Platte.
