Description	:	Floyd M. Wadsley was born Nov. 22, 1898 in Delaware Township, Sac County, to George W. and Mary Gooding Wadsley. He graduated from Early Consolidated School in 1919 and attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake. He married Doris Newell of Hastings on June 22, 1921. Two daughters were born of this union, Marvel and JoAnne. In the same year that he was married, he joined his father in the implement and car business in Early. He remained in this business, along with his sister, Mildred, until his retirement in 1972. Wadsley was born Nov. 22, 1898 in Delaware Township, Sac County, to George W. and Mary Gooding Wadsley. He graduated from Early Consolidated School in 1919 and attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake. He married Doris Newell of Hastings on June 22, 1921. Two daughters were born of this union, Marvel and JoAnne. In the same year that he was married, he joined his father in the implement and car business in Early. He remained in this business, along with his sister, Mildred, until his retirement in 1972. Before retiring, he was honored by International Harvester and Chevrolet Motors for fifty years as a dealer for the respective companies. He served his community in many ways, as a member of the Early City Council, the school board, the St. Elmo Masonic Lodge of Early, the Sioux City Consistory and Abu Bekr Shrine, and as an active and lifelong member of the Early United Methodist Church in Early. Floyd had an intense interest in horse racing and owned several harness horses during the latter part of his business career. Even in his late years he never lost his enthusiasm for harness horses, remaining an avid student of the horses and continuing to "follow" them as a reader of the Horseman magazine. He was a dedicated husband and father and strong booster of the Early community through his energetic support of the local Chamber of Commerce, Early and Nemaha Fire Departments. A friend to everyone he met, he was highly respected for his keen sense of fair play, business acumen and jovial, friendly manner. He will be remembered dearly by his family and wide community of friends. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Walter of Sac City; wife, Doris; daughter, Marvel and grandson, Steven Smith. (Storm Lake Times, 4-30-1993)
