He started school in Anderson, IA, and later went to Tabor and Sidney schools where he finished the 11th grade. On August, 23, 1942, he entered military service and served until June 9, 1945 at which time he received an honorable discharge. While in service, he received the American Defense Ribbon, American Theatre Ribbon, Expert Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbon and one Bronze Campaign Star. Mr. Glasgow was a very patriotic person. In December of 1945 he was united in Marriage to Mildred "Millie" Ryan. To this union one son was born, Steve Briton Glasgow. Mr. Glasgow was a carpenter by trade and worked and lived in Fremont county most of his life. He was a member of the American Legion Post #128. Preceding him in death were his parents, Ira and Mary Ann "Mollie" Glasgow of Sidney; his wife Mildred "Millie" Glasgow of Sidney; his son Steve Briton Glasgow of Palmyra, NE; brother Presley and sister-in-law Mildred Glasgow of Sidney; brother Steve and sister-in-law Lucile Glasgow of Torrington, WY; brother Gene and sister-in-law Velva Glasgow of Thurman, IA; brother Walter and sister-in-law Lucille of Portland, OR; sister Martha and brother-in-law Russell Bills of Kansas City, MO; and sister Mary and brother-in-law Irwin Rist of Eureka, CA. Mr. Glasgow is survived by his daughter-in-law Anabelle Glasgow of Palmyra, NE; three grandchildren Tanya, Tyler and Trevor of Palmyra; a great granddaughter Kayla Lee of Palmyra; one brother Howard and sister-in-law Eileen Glasgow of Sidney, Sister Grace and brother-in-law Clarence Racine of Sidney; sister Hazel Heslep of Roswell, NM; sister Myrtle and brother-in-law Floyd Christensen of Bellevue, NE; sisters-in-law Ruth Sccor of Omaha and Gwen and husband Joe Toledo of Omaha; many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Funeral Services for Floyd Glasgow were held September 14 at the Crawford-Marshall Funeral Chapel in Sidney. The Rev. Mary Jo Koehler of the Presbyterian church officiated. Organist was Leola Nennemann. Soloist was Jeff Penn. Selections were "The Little Brown Church in the Vale" and "Will the Circle Be Unbroken." Betty Reed was at the memory book. Patsy Yenny, Shirley Falk and Teresa Glasgow cared for the flowers. Pall bearers were Tyler Glasgow, Larry Glasgow, Walter Glasgow, Trever Glasgow, Craig Glasgow and Roberk Rank. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Daniel, Skip Chambers, Don Chambers, John Shere and Buff Chambers. Interment was in the Sidney, IA, cemetery with military graveside rites by the Williams-Jobe-Gibson American Legion Post #128 of Sidney. Memorials are directed to the Sidney Rescue Squad.
