Description	:	Floyd S. Freng, 98, of Volin, SD passed away after a brief illness on March 6, 2014 at Avera Sister James Majestic Bluffs in Yankton, SD. Floyd was born October 31, 1915 to Carl and Martha (Hoxeng) Freng in Mission Hill, SD. He was the fourth child of eleven born to the Frengs. Freng, 98, of Volin, SD passed away after a brief illness on March 6, 2014 at Avera Sister James Majestic Bluffs in Yankton, SD. Floyd was born October 31, 1915 to Carl and Martha (Hoxeng) Freng in Mission Hill, SD. He was the fourth child of eleven born to the Frengs. He attended 8 years at Devoe Country School and started working on the family farm and for neighboring farmers. He worked with the CCC during the depression years in the Black Hill area. He served in the Quartermaster Corps in the US Army and was stationed in Hawaii. He married Luella Aaen on July 13, 1941. After his discharge from the service, they moved to their rural Volin home where they lived and farmed until Luella's death in 2003. Floyd then moved to Yankton where he resided until his passing. Throughout his life Floyd participated in horse shoes & softball. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Twins Baseball and Timberwolves Basketball. He also enjoyed giving rides on his 3-wheeler and cart. Floyd was a lifelong member of the Bruget-Gustad Legion Post #192 of Volin and VFW Post 791 of Yankton. He was most recently a member of Rudolph Christensen Legion Post #237 of Gayville. Survivors include; Ron of Yankton and special friend Sophie Merrigan, Mary (Mike) Buckman of Gayville, Mark (Sue) Freng of Yankton and Lori (Gary) Bame of Yankton, 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters; Marlys (Luke) Bakke and Jean (Vernon) Christensen of Elk Point, also many nieces & nephews.
