He was born November 22, 1912, in Westville, the son of Harry D and Estie (Gentis) Whitmore, He was a graduate of Urbana High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a warrant officer. He receive a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart while surving in the European Theatre. He was employed as an artificial technician with Curtis Breeding Service, retiring in 1989. He was a member of Harmony Lodge #8, Free and Accepted Masons of Urbana, where he was past Master. He was a member of the Urbana Chapter # 34 Royal Arch Masons and was Past High Priest. He was a member of the Urbana Council, Royal and Select Masons and was Past Master membr of the Raper Commandry Knight Templar and was Past Commaander. He was elected to membership of Ohio Priory and designated Knight of York Cross of Honor. He was a member and Past Worthy Patron of Urbana Chapter of Order of the Easter Star. He is survived by his wife, Nellie (Golder) Whitmore of urbana, one son Dav Whitmore of urbana; three granddaughters, Tammy Whitmore, Kathy Dowsma and Jennifer Hursh, three great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter, one brother Paul "Pete" Whitmore of Urbana. He was preceded in death by his parents, his previous wife, Ilene Witmore, one grandson, Chris Whitmore.
