Williamson, known to his many friends as Willie, was born on March 11, 1918 in Adair County, Iowa, the son of Fred and Minne (Evans) Williamson, and passed away Monday, January 8, 1961, at the Veterans' Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, of a heart condition. Williamson, known to his many friends as Willie, was born on March 11, 1918 in Adair County, Iowa, the son of Fred and Minne (Evans) Williamson, and passed away Monday, January 8, 1961, at the Veterans' Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, of a heart condition. Although he had been in failing health since 1959, he had been employed as a linotype operator at The Free Press in Corning until he entered the hospital December 28, 1960. With his parents, he moved from Adair county to Adams county on a farm near Prescott when he was six years old and since that time he has always claimed Prescott as his home. He was a member of the Prescott Methodist church, having joined when he was a child. After his graduation from Prescott High School he farmed west of town until moving into town in January 1952. He entered the army and served in the United States. About 1955 he took a course in linotype at Charles City, Iowa and worked at Jewell and Humboldt. In August 1956 he started at the Adams County Free Press in Corning. On December 26, 1947 he was married to Bernadine Claussen at Bentonville, Arkansas. To this union one son was born, Floyd Vernon, Junior. Both survive. Also surviving are a step-son, Morris Claussen, and daughter-in-law, Juanita, and granddaughter, Sharon, all of Key West, Florida. Funeral services were held Thursday, January 12, 1961 at 2:00 p.m. from the Roland Funeral Home in Corning. In charge was Rev. Dan Adams of the Prescott Methodist Church, and Metz Post 544 of the American Legion, of which he was a member. Music was furnished by Mrs. Esther Roland and Mrs. Eva Elmore. Pall bearers were Brad Young, Paul Gauthier, Francis Wood, and Lloyd Hollingsworth. Flower bearers were Mrs. Helen Lane, Mrs. Virginia Campbell, and Mrs. Bill Hepler. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Prescott.
