Krantz was born April 10, 1916 in Salem, SD to William and Cora (Dick) Krantz. He grew up and attended country school in the Salem area and graduated from Salem high school. He married Florence Scheier at Salem on September 23, 1940. He operated Salem Body Shop and Krantz Chevrolet in Salem for many years. His wife passed away on October 24, 1996 and he continued to live in Salem until his death. Floyd passed away on Thursday September 17, 1998 in McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD. He had reached the age of 82 years, 5 months and 7 days. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church in Salem. He loved to fish, garden and play cards. Survivors include two sons, Terry Krantz and his wife Rhonda of Sioux Falls, SD; Dan Krantz and his wife Sandy of Watertown, SD; two daughters, Connie and her husband Steve Weber of Salem, SD; Marcia Mentele of Mitchell, SD; 13 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and four sisters, Opal Dick of Sioux Falls, SD; Fern Raue and Hazel Bies of Salem, SD; and Sarah Kuyper of Estelline, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother, Harry, two sisters, Stella Harrings and Maude Grossman, one son Ronnie, and one son-in-law, Greg Mentele.
