After grandma's death and retiring he made miniature wood doll furniture and sold it at flea markets around area. He loved to play harmonica and would play "Under the Old Apple Tree" for grandkids. I remember him as a fun loving man who just seemed to take everything in stride. I don't ever remember seeing him visibly upset or angry. I am told he also played the piano, but I did not personally ever hear him play. He always wore wide brimmed hat and loved teasing grandma and grandkids. Even though Grandpa lived in Muscatine County most of his life he was born in Jasper Co. MO on what we believe was a trip to visit relatives. We have a picture of a house and on the back it reads: 'This is house where Floyd was born during a terrible stormy night.' Have not been able to locate any census reports that verify his parents were actually living in MO at the time. NOTE: Death registry lists place of birth as IA.
