Mr. Flynn was born in Surry County to the late Loyd and Maggie Brown Flynn on December 3, 1939. He retired from Allied Systems of Walkertown and drove part time for Hardy Brothers Trucking Co. in Siloam. He was a member of Siloam United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Mary Ruth Dinkins Flynn of the home; two sons, Richard (Delana) Flynn of Ararat, NC and Michael (Pam) Flynn of Pinnacle, NC; four grandchildren, Casey Flynn, Suzanna Flynn, Justin Flynn, and Hailey Flynn; three sisters, Jewel Ray Draughn of Dobson, NC, Carol and Dean Sharpe of Pinnacle, NC, and Virginia Taylor of Cary, NC. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, July 3, 2008, at 11:00 A.M., at the Siloam United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ricky Spencer officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 to lie instate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at Huff Funeral Home in East Bend from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. The family would like to thank Dr. Lankford of Pilot Mountain Medical Center, Dr. William Bell and Dr. Timothy Collins at Forsyth Cancer Center. and Mountain Valley Hospice, Ruth Handy and other members of hospice for the good care they gave. Memorials may be made to Siloam United Methodist Church, Mountain Valley Hospice and Pallaitive Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030, or in a floral tribute.
