Services were held on Thursday at Adaville United Methodist Church, rural Akron, Iowa, with the Rev. Charles Teft officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, with military rites conducted by American Legion Olson-Halweg Post 125 of Merrill. Floyde Nelson Brown was born March 1, 1928, on the family farm to Nelson and Esther (Philips) Brown. He graduated from Liberty High School in 1945. Following high school, he served his country in the U.S. Army. After his discharge, Floyde returned to the family farm in Plymouth County, Iowa, to farm with his father. Floyde was united in marriage to Gladys Joan Pilgrim on March 27, 1955, at First Presbyterian Church in South Sioux City. He farmed until the early 1990s, when he retired. Floyde and Joan continued to lived on the farm, where he enjoyed helping other farmers in the area. He was a lifelong member of Adaville church, American Legion Olson-Halweg Post 125, Plymouth County Farm Bureau and a past board member of the Hinton Co-op. He enjoyed fishing, reading and the farming lifestyle. Survivors include his wife, Joan of Merrill; two daughters, Gwen Thomas and Beth Brown, both of Denver; two sons and their wives, Scott and Shelly Brown of Wichita, Kan., and Kirk and Lori Brown of Le Mars; two brothers and their wives, Donald and Lucille Brown of Merrill, and Melvin and Marilyn Brown of Westfield, Iowa; a sister, Doris Weber of Early, Iowa; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, John Weber. Pallbearers will be John and Mark Weber, Steve and Keith Brown, Larry Ritz and Richard Philips.
