Description	:	Orland served as a Flight Officer and Co-Pilot on B-17 #44-6923, 545th Bomber Squadron, 384th Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He resided in Penobscot County, Maine prior to the war. B-17 #44-6923, with a crew of 8, took off from Kettering, England on an operational mission over Germany during the war. They crashed four miles south of Kettering almost immediately after take off for an unknown reason. All on board were killed. Orland was "Killed In Action" in this crash during the war.
