Second Street, died at 11 p.m. Tuesday in Stouder Memorial Hospital, Troy, where he had been a patient for one day. He was born in Mad River Township, April 28, 1882, the son of John and Ruth Baker Stevens. He and his wife, the former Lina Gearhart, celebrated their sixty-first wedding anniversary in January 1968. Mr. Stevens was a retired farmer and a member of the Christiansburg United Church, where he had been a Sunday School teacher and superintendent. He was also a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. Surviving with his wife are five sons, Waldo and Russell of Urbana, Kenneth of Brandt, Edwin of Christiansburg, and Donald of Troy; three daughters, Mrs. Orville (Ruth) Smith of North Hampton, Mrs. Norma Dennis of Christiansburg, and Miss Lola Stevens of Troy; 24 grandchildren; 21 great - grandchildren; two brothers, Charles of Thackery and Clyde of Casstown; three sisters, Mrs. Ottis (Lizzie) Conrad of St. Paris, Mrs. Joe (Susie) Shaffer of Thackery, and Mrs. Clifford (Cleo) Evilsizor of Tremont City. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Richeson-Wickham Funeral Home, St. Paris, with the Rev. Edward Stitzel officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Upper Honey Creek Cemetery.
