Read More	WORLD WAR II Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church Thursday, December 29, 1949 for Forrest D. Snodgrass with Rev. J. E. England in charge. Forrest Dewey Snodgrass was born April 21, 1899 three miles north of Emerson and has always made this his home town. He was the son of Blanche and William Snodgrass, both of whom preceded him in death. He was one of four children, two brothers and one sister, one brother, Russell deceased. Forrest has been in poor health for some time, but in October of 1949 his condition became seriour and although he was given the best of care and medical skill it was of no avail and he continued to grow steadily worse. He was taken about 10 days ago to the veteran's hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska and despite a desperate battle to regain his strength, it was a losing struggle and death came to end his suffering Monday evening, December 26, with his wife and daughters at his bedside comforting his last moments. The body was removed to Comer Funeral Home whete it lay in state until the hour of the service. He attended school in the Emerson High School, at Boyles Business College, Omaha, Nebraska, and the Architectual School of the City of Los Angeles, California. His life work consisted of carpentering and contracting in Emerson and vicinity. For seven years he was Building Inspector for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and during World War II was in the Modification Dept. of the Bomber Plant in Omaha, Nebraska. At the time of his death he was engaged in contracting and architectual work at Tabor. He was married March 10, 1921 to Linda Duysen of Henderson. To this union two daughters were born, Phyllis and Bonnie. He served in World War II and was a charter member of Levi Burton Post No. 575 of Emerson and lately a member of Legion Post No. 1 of Omaha, Nebraska. He was a member of the Emerson Methodist Church and Past Master of Emerson Masonic Lodge. He was Adjutant of the American Legion and served his community for five years as member of the city council. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife Linda, daughters, Mrs. Virgil Harold of Emerson and Bonnie at home, a senior in the high school. Also granddaughter, Vicki Harold, his brother Glen of Emerson, and sister, Mrs. Earl Harmon of Hillsdale. "Deth is a gloom of Winter, that chills the tender bloom of years and for the joy of life, in youth betrayed, flows gently now the while our tears. But from his eternal gaarden promise. There glows a warmth in sorrows gloom, and memories design a pattern fair to keep hope and everlasting love in bloom." Burial was in the Emerson Cemetery. Malvern Leader, January 5, 1950, page 6
