Description	:	Fr. Philip "Fr. Phil" Luther, was born to Donald E. "Don" and Louisa (Anderson) Luther on May 19, 1957 in Holdrege, Nebraska. Fr. Phil passed away on January 9, 2008 at Creighton University Medical Center, in Omaha, Nebraska. Fr. Phil was the 5th of 6 children, the oldest sibling, Louis Edward Luther, died before the rest were born. Fr. Phil graduated from Holdrege High School. Read More	Fr. Philip "Fr. Phil" Luther, was born to Donald E. "Don" and Louisa (Anderson) Luther on May 19, 1957 in Holdrege, Nebraska. Fr. Phil passed away on January 9, 2008 at Creighton University Medical Center, in Omaha, Nebraska. Fr. Phil was the 5th of 6 children, the oldest sibling, Louis Edward Luther, died before the rest were born. Fr. Phil graduated from Holdrege High School. Attended Lincoln School of Commerce for one year. Traveled and worked a year and then worked two years at Pamida in Holdrege. Then entered St. Pius X Seminary for college. Then was sent to Mount St. Mary's Seminary, Emmitsburg, Maryland for Theology. Fr. Phil was ordained on May 30, 1987, the 100th Anniversary of the Diocese of Lincoln, Nebraska. His assignments have been: St. Teresa in Lincoln for 2 years, Church of the Holy Spirit, Plattsmouth for 1 year, than appointed pastor of St. Mary's in Dawson and St. Anne, Shubert, for 3 years, for 8 years he was pastor of St. James, Trenton and Holy Family, Palisade. On June 17, 2001 he was assigned to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Superior and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Nelson, Nebraska, where he was serving until his death. Fr. Phil was preceded in death by: parents, Donald and Louisa Luther. Survivors are: sisters, Kathleen Luther of Fremont, Nebrask and Polly Luther of Kearney, Nebraska and brothers, Douglas"Doug" and wife Sandy of Fremont, Nebraska, and Eric of Kearney, Nebraska; niece, Brenda Kenkel and husband Roger, nephew Michael and great-niece Karley, Miracle and Caly, Korbin and a host of relatives and friends. After the Mother's death------ Nadine Brown was hired as the Nanny for the family. She had strong Baptist religious base and I am sure with that and the family also had a strong relgious base as Roman Catholics and Fr. Phil's Mother, Louisa was raised in the Presbyterian faith, that had affects on Fr. Phil becoming a priest.
