Description	:	Francel Geraldine Rodine, 93, of Axtell died Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Bethany Home in Minden. Francel was born Jan. 11, 1918, to Arvid and Laura (Sandall) Peterson. On Nov. 29, 1936, she married Alvin Rodine in Axtell. He preceded her in death. Read More	Francel Geraldine Rodine, 93, of Axtell died Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Bethany Home in Minden. Francel was born Jan. 11, 1918, to Arvid and Laura (Sandall) Peterson. On Nov. 29, 1936, she married Alvin Rodine in Axtell. He preceded her in death. Survivors are: children, Karen Woods of Venice, Fla., Judy Erickson and her husband, Harold, of Queens Creek, Ariz., and Joan Frerichs of Axtell; grandchildren, Rhonda Schott and her husband, Lewis, Kevin Woods and his wife, Kathleen, Kim Baker, Kathy Wright, Jeff Erickson and his wife, Ingrid, Jon Erickson, Ann Johnson and her husband, Derick, Nathan Frerichs and his wife, Jamie, and Brent Frerichs; great-grandchildren, Patrick, Mary Kate, Jack and Bridget Woods, Erin and Thomas Reilly, Joseph Nieves, Tatum Wright, Ryan and Lauren Erickson, Josh and Alex Erickson, and Brynn, Brock and Kate Johnson; sister, Donna Ericson McMurtry of Loup City; sisters-in-law, Ione Peterson and LaVerne Rodine; and a host of relatives and friends. She graduated from Minden High School in 1934. Francel and Alvin purchased the C.O. Carlson store in Axtell in 1944 and named it Rodine's IGA where Francel sold her rye bread. They owned and operated the store until they retired in 1977. Francel was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school and participated in Women's Circle making quilt tops for many years. In addition, she was a member of the HOA Club, various card clubs and Bible studies. Francel enjoyed spending time with her family and playing cards. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Mervin, Earl, Donnie and Bob Peterson and his wife, Helen; son-in-law, Roger Frerichs; and great-grandson, Dillon Baker.
