Frances Aloysius was born on July 9, 1913, in Chatsworth, Iowa, to George H. and Margaret (Burnight) Schafer. She grew up in Chatsworth, graduating from High School in Hawarden, Iowa. Easton, 93, passed away with her family by her side, at her home in Elma, on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006. Frances Aloysius was born on July 9, 1913, in Chatsworth, Iowa, to George H. and Margaret (Burnight) Schafer. She grew up in Chatsworth, graduating from High School in Hawarden, Iowa. "Great" a name that was endearingly given to her by her family, married Elvin Lyle Easton, in Hawarden, Iowa on Feb. 12, 1934. She was a farm wife, and took on responsibilities working in the fields and cooking for the hired help. "Great" was a Nurses Aid at Oakhurst Convalescent Center and retired in April of 1976. The family moved to the Grays Harbor area in September of 1952. "Great" was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elma, a member of Ladies Guild at the Catholic Church, and Housekeeper for St. Joseph Parish. She was also a member of Sharon Grange. She enjoyed country living, flowers, and gardening, but her greatest joy was her family especially her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sons, George R. Easton and wife, Joy of Yakima, Wash., and Thomas J. Easton and wife, Linda of Elma; her daughter, Mary Ann Schweitzer and husband, Ron of Elma; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elvin who passed away on Dec. 20, 1961; a great-grandson, Robert David Easton; and a sister, Lucille Kelley. Memorial donations may be made in Frances' memory to a charity of your choice. A visitation will be held on Monday, Oct. 30, 2006, from 8:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. at Whiteside Family Mortuary in Elma, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elma. A private family burial will take place following the service with a luncheon to follow, served in the Church Parish Hall.
