Banghart, died at the residence of her mother Friday morning, Sept. 14, 1894. She was born in Cascade, Iowa, May 24th, 1865, and was married Dec. 24th, 1884, to George Cornell, who entered the eternal world before her. She leaves to mourn her loss two boys, Willie and Harold, and aged mother, four brothers, William J. and Henry J. Banghart, of Chicago; Frank S. Banghart, of Maquoketa; and Oscar H. Banghart, who is now in Europe; and two sisters, Mrs. Carrie A. McVay, and Mrs. May L. Livermore, of Cascade. She attended Cornell College, Mt. Vernon two years, becoming quite proficient in music and on her return home acted as organist in the M. E. Church for some time. Three years ago she began to decline in health, and all that medical skill could do was done but with little avail. She sought the invigorating climate of Colorado and was much benefited for a time. Her physicians there prescribing a lower altitude her last resort was Excelsior Springs, failing there to regain strength her brother William brought her home July 7th. She bore her great suffering with patience and fortitude and had many amiable and gracious qualities of mind and heart. Her loss will be keenly felt by relatives and friends. She fought the grim monster until last Friday morning at 7 o’clock, when the spirit took her it’s upwards flight. Her brother William was with her the last three months, exerting all the power that filial affection could bestow in the battle for life, but the all-conquering foe mastered and Fannie is no more. On Thursday evening at 9 o’clock she felt she was going and expressed her willingness. She made arrangements for her burial , selected Rev. James Beatty, her former tutor in school and friend during all her life, to preach her funeral sermon bid her relatives and friends all goodbye and left a loving message for her brother William, who had gone to Chicago the previous evening but returned the next day. She commended herself to her Savior in prayer, and then sang: When I tread the verge of Jordan, Bid my anxious fear subside, Bear me through the swelling current, Land me safe on Canaan’s side. The funeral services were concluded at the Methodist Church, Rev. James Beatty officiating, assisted by pastor Rev. Downs and Revs. Hill and McCrea. The many floral offerings were beautiful and exquisite. A large concourse of people attended the service and followed the remains to its last resting place.
