Description	:	Frances Owen, beloved mother and grandmother, age 89, of Charlotte, North Carolina passed away peacefully at home on February 17, 2021. A graveside service will be in Blacksburg, South Carolina. Reverend Jim Humphries will be officiating. Frances was born February 14, 1932 in Clinton, SC. She was the daughter of the late Russell and Mae Cobb. Frances was preceded in death by her sister Virginia Wilson, and by six brothers Robert Cobb, John Cobb, Harold Cobb, Paul Cobb, Jimmie Cobb, and Claude Spurgeon Cobb, and sisters-in-law Mary Cobb, Anne Cobb, and Ruth Cobb. She was the daughter of the late Russell and Mae Cobb. Frances was preceded in death by her sister Virginia Wilson, and by six brothers Robert Cobb, John Cobb, Harold Cobb, Paul Cobb, Jimmie Cobb, and Claude Spurgeon Cobb, and sisters-in-law Mary Cobb, Anne Cobb, and Ruth Cobb. Survivors include her daughters Kathy Jones and Elizabeth Thomas, son-in-law Joe Thomas, and granddaughters Jane Elizabeth Jones and Taylor Jones. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Alice Cobb and Esther Cobb and brother-in-law John Wilson. Frances received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Winthrop College in Rock Hill, SC. She taught elementary school for twenty-eight years in South Carolina and Charlotte, North Carolina. She taught at Ashley Park, Enderly Park, and Westerly Hills School in Charlotte. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church where she was active as a Sunday School teacher and on many committees. She received a life membership in the United Methodist Women. She was the church’s full time organist for 10 years and continued to assist the music program for many more. Frances loved playing the piano her entire life. She had a deep love for Christ United Methodist Church, the Joe Reeves Sunday School class, and all the people of the church. The family will always be grateful to her devoted caregiver, Debbie Harris.
