In 1929, the family moved into the town and Ramage attended Chatsworth Public School and Chatsworth Continuation School up until grade 12. For a time in the early 1940's Ramage delivered bread for Masons Bakery in Owen Sound. After the Second World War, on May 31, 1947 Ramage married Howard A. Donovan and eventually had a son, James, in December of 1962. Moving from Chatsworth, the Donovan family settled in Owen Sound in 1978, when her husband began working for the city. Donovan then became the superintendent at Victoria Towers for five years. History and Training August 10, 1943: On her 19th birthday, Ramage enlisted into the Royal Canadian Air Force Women's Division in Owen Sound. She received her basic training in Rockcliffe, Ontario and became a Leading Air Woman. She then spent 6 months in Montreal, Quebec attending Number One Wireless School. Ramage was then sent to No. 5 Radio Station in Clinton, Ontario, where she became a canteen stewardess for a year and half. Near the end of 1944, Frances Ramage was discharged from the Royal Canadian Air Force Women's Division.
