Read More	Mother of Palmer Louis, Marian Carol, Lois O., Albert Fletcher "Bud" & Irene Wiuff +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Harlan, Iowa Tribune Tuesday March 30, 1992 page 4B Frances Wiuff, 92 Oct. 18, 1900 March 18, 1993 HARLAN Frances Eleanor Wiuff, the daughter of Lars and Maren Wagner Olson, was born on a farm near Canby, MN., Oct. 18, 1900. She attended country school and grew to adulthood on the family farm. Nov. 11, 1919, she married Albert F. Wiuff at her parents near Canby, MN. They then made their home on the Olson family farm until 1922 when he enrolled in the John Fletcher College to study for the ministry. Rev. and Mrs Wiuff then served Methodist congregations in Verdi and Nerstrand, MN., before moving to Shelby county in 1937, where they had accepted a call to the Merrill's Grove Baptist Church near Fiscus. From 1946 to 1954, Rev. and Mrs Wiuff promoted and helped build the Danish Baptist Memorial Home in Harlan. Rev. Wiuff then became its first administrator. Shortly after the Baptist Home was completed, Rev. and Mrs Wiuff moved back to the family farm near Canby, MN,, where they farmed for a short time. Rev, Wiuff then accepted a call to the ministry at the Canby Baptist Church. The need for a nursing home in Audubon, brought Rev. and Mrs Wiuff there, where they planned and developed the Friendship Home. They were also instrumental in the building and administration of the Maranatha Baptist Home in Minneapolis, and the Billy Sunday Memorial Home in Sioux City. In 1966, they retired and moved to Harlan. After Rev. Wiuff's death April 21, 1975, she continued to make her home in Harlan. March 11, 1987, when she became a resident of the Baptist Memorial Home in Harlan, she requested Room 316 so she could be near the room with a piano. This has been her home since that time. She was an active member of the Elk Horn Baptist Church. She died March 18, 1993, at Myrtue Memorial Hospital in Harlan, at age 92 years and 5 months. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, John, Frank, Omer, Palmer, Bertha, Mary and infant twins; her daughter, Irene Norgaard; and son-in-law, Calvin Bartelson. She is survived by 2 sons, Palmer (Delta) Wiuff of Harlan; and Albert "Bud" (Betty) Wiuff, Jr. of Ankeny; 2 daughters, Marian Nelson of Harlan; and Lois Bartelson of Harlan; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and other relatives. Funeral services were held March 20, 1993, at Pauley Funeral Home with Dr. Herbert Johnson and Rev. Harold Dark officiating. Burial was in the Harlan cemetery with Tom Scott, Jim Fredericksen, Alan Olson, Randy Nelson, Bradley Norgaard, Todd Mueller, Barry Norgaard and Robert Norgaard honorary casketbearers. Casketbearers were Jon Hansen, Brent Norgaard, Bryan Wiuff, Paul Nelson, Dean Bartelson and Larry McDermont. Pauley Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
