BURRTON WOMAN DIES Mrs. Frances McDavitt, 94, of Burrton, Kas., died Monday in Wichita. She was born May 3, 1852 in Zanesville, O., and has resided in Burrton for the past 14 years. She is survived by two sons, T. R. McDavitt, 518 South Millwood, and Claude W. McDavitt, Burrton; two daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Hankin (sic)[Hawkins], 350 North Handley, and Mrs. Frances Romine, Hollywood, Calif. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2.30 p. m. in the Methodist Church at Burrton. The Rev. Glen Matthews will officiate. Internment will be in Burrton. [Genealogist Note: Frances Elizabeth Thompson was born in Salesville, Guernsey County, Ohio, not Zanesville] HISTORY A story she recited to her grandson, Thomas Merle McDavitt, just before her death in 1947 was a recollection of the Civil War times when she was only ten years old. [1862] Her father, Thomas Thompson, owned and operated a hotel and restaurant in Salesville, Ohio, near the railroad depot.
