Griffin, Sr., of the Washington community, Rt. 2, Greer, died at her home Thursday at 11:05 a.m. following five years declining health and an illness of the past four months. Mrs. Griffin, born and reared in the Campobello community, was the daughter of the late Joshua and Beckie Bowers Pittman. She had lived in the Washington community 27 years and was a member of Greer Wesleyan Methodist Church. Surviving besides her husband are 4 daughters, Mrs. Mary L. Dempsey and Mrs. Odell Brown, both of Route 2, Greer, Mrs. Clyde Farmer and Mrs. Marvin Howell, both of Route 3, Greer; 4 sons, Gaines and W.J. Griffin Jr., both of Route 2, Greer, Tony Griffin of Route 4, Taylors, Talmadge Griffin of Rt. 4, Greer; 25 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was the last member of her immediate family. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at Greer Wesleyan Methodist Church. Burial will be in Wood Memorial Park. The body is at Wood Mortuary.
