Read More	Mrs. Charles L McWilliams - Frances Ellen Tandy McWilliams was born September 13, 1851, at Centerville, Appanoose County, Iowa, and died at 2:15 o'clock on Saturday afternoon, August 31, 1933, aged 81 years 11 months and (?) days. At the age of one year she moved with her parents to a farm south of Oskaloosa and lived there until 11 years of age when she moved with her parents to a farm four miles west of Oskaloosa where she lived until her marriage to Charles L. McWilliams, January 1, 1881. She lived in Mahaska county the rest of her life with the exception of four years in Minnesota. She was a member of a family of 12 children, a brother and sister dying in infancy. Others proceeding her in death were two sisters, Mary, wife of Dr. William (? - k), who died February 21, 1881, Elmira Remmington of Kearney, Nebraska, and two brothers, W. T. Tandy of Kearney and Henry Tandy of Oskaloosa. On January 1, 1931, Mr. and Mrs. McWilliams celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at the home of their daughter Effie Smith, with whom they made their home for 11 years. Since a girl in her teens Mrs. McWilliams had been an active church member, having joined at Old Six Mile schoolhouse and later transferred her membership to the First Reformed Church. of Oskaloosa. She is survived by her husband, two daughters Vernie C. Vermeulen of Des Moines and Mrs. Effie Smith of Beacon, seven grandchildren, Floyd, Edgar, Hazen, Marvin, Irvin Vermeulen of Des Moines, Lela McCullough of Des Moines, and Letha Smith of Beacon; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters Jane Remington of Salem, Oregon, the oldest in the family who is 90 years old, and Anna Dillon of Peru, Nebraska; two brothers, Spencer Tandy of Gann Valley, South Dakota, and A. H. Tandy of Oskaloosa, and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. McWilliams had been in poor health for several years. On Saturday, August 26, she had two sinking spells and rallied, but on Sunday at 10 o'clock in the morning she became unconscious and remained in a state of coma until 2:15 o'clock in the afternoon when she passed away. Funeral services were held at the First Reformed church at 10:30 o'clock Saturday morning, September 2, in charge of the pastor, Rev. L. S. Faust. Music was provided by Charles W Cdark and Eleanor Lark accompanied by Mary Louise Woodard. Burial in Beacon Cemetery.
