Funeral Services for Frannie will be held on Monday, December 22, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Peace Lutheran Church in Scranton, ND. Pastor Mary Peterson will officiate with burial to follow in the Union Prairie Cemetery, rural Scranton. There will be a Family and Friends service on Sunday, December 21, 2008 at the Krebsbach Funeral Home Chapel beginning at 7:30 p.m. Frances Ellingson was born on April 4, 1922 on the family farm near Buffalo Springs, ND, the daughter of Albert and Margaret (Taylor) Ellingson. She was raised in the Buffalo Springs area and received her elementary education at Eden #2 and graduated from Buffalo Springs High School in 1939. After graduating Frannie was a waitress at Dahl's Café and Joe's Lunch in Bowman. Frannie enjoyed going to barn dances with her friends. On one occasion in 1945, she met Frank Palczewski at a dance south of Scranton. January 3, 1946 Frannie was united in marriage to Frank in Scranton. After their marriage they made their home on their farm southwest of Scranton where Frannie would help out with the daily duties of operating a farm and ranch. To this union, five children were born, Jerry, Linda, Tom, Teddy, and Cathy. Frank passed away in February of 1993 and in the fall, Frannie moved to Scranton where she has since made her home. Frannie enjoyed many things in her life. She loved a wild game of cards, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, reading a good book, visiting with her many friends, watching and listening to sports, and watching game shows. Frannie liked going to the lake, family get-togethers and neighborhood picnics. Most of all, Frannie enjoyed time with her family whom she loved very much. She was not only a wonderful mother and grandmother; she was a wonderful mother-in-law welcoming her children's spouses to her family. Some of the highlights in Frannie's life were watching her grandchildren grow up; being called "Granny Frannie" by her great-grandson, and when she was able to watch three of her grandsons compete in the same State B Boys Basketball Tournament at the Fargo Dome. Frannie was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, participated in the local Cancer Support Group, attended Friendship Club and contributed to a number of local organizations. Frances served as the Goldfield township treasurer for 46 years. Her kindness and giving spirit resonated through her life. Frannie was a "True Lady of the Prairie" who loved farm life and the land where she lived. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Frannie is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Pat Palczewski of Scranton, ND, Tom "Bimbo" and Carrie Palczewski of Mandan, ND; daughters and son-in-law, Linda and Cliff Meyer of Bismarck, ND and Cathy Palczewski of Bismarck, ND; grandchildren, Traci and Kyle French, Tara and Grant Schlosser, Adam Palczewski, Bo Palczewski, Lucas Palczewski and Ben Palczewski; great grandson, Bridger French; brother, Keith and Vivian Ellingson of Scranton, ND; sister-in-law, Martha Stuber of Bowman, ND; brothers-in-law, Richard Palczewski of Scranton, ND and Stanley and Marlene Palczewski of Scranton, ND; also survived by her extended family, friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; son, Teddy; parents, Albert and Margaret (Taylor) Ellingson; infant sister; and many friends and extended family. Krebsbach Funeral Service of Bowman in charge of the arrangements.
