McKnight, respected resident of Butler county and David City most of her life, passed away at her home northwest of David City at 4:05 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 11, following illness of five days after suffering a stroke. She was in her 64th year. Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock Friday afternoon in the Home For Funerals in David City, in charge of Rev. William Richards of Franklin. Mrs. Raymond Bock sang two hymns, "Jesus is Calling" and "Blest Be the Tie That Binds," with Mrs. Frank Maule piano accompanist. The pallbearers were Fred Grubaugh, Gilbert Rogers, Paul Smith, Lloyd Smith, Ralph Zeilinger and Thomas Zeilinger. Burial was in the David City cemetery. In attendance at the funeral services from elsewhere were Mrs. Goucher of Martin, S. Dak., Mrs. Edward L. Flippo of Spokane, Wash., Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Martin of Arnold and Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Stephens, George McKnight, Mr. and Mrs. Snyder and children and Mrs. Velma Chapin and Mrs. Carl Hall of Rising City. Frances Gilberta Martin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George P. Martin, was born December 22, 1878, at Rossville, Ia. At the age of seven years she came to David City, where she grew to womanhood and was married to Irvin R. McKnight April 26, 1899. To them were born three children, two daughters and one son, who with their father survive. They are Mrs. Ruth Goucher of Martin, S. Dak., Mrs. Marguerite Flippo of Spokane, Wash., and Roy I. McKnight of David City. All were at their mother's bedside at time of her death. Besides her husband and children, Mrs. McKnight leaves eight grandchildren; two brothers, Elmer Martin of Arnold and Julius Martin of Denver, Colo.; and one sister, Mrs. Ethel Lichliter of David City. A woman of pleasing personality, devoted to her family and ever ready to lend a helping hand in time of need, Mrs. McKnight was esteemed and loved by a large circle of friends.
