Frances Irene Handsaker was born in Nevada, the daughter of Vern and Bess (Klump) Proctor. She earned a teaching certificate from Ellsworth Teaching College and taught in a country school. On Dec. 24, 1926, she married Harold "Pete" Handsaker at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fernald. She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of the Nevada community. She was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada and the Order of the Eastern Star, and was active in church and community activities. Survivors include one son, Dean Handsaker of Nevada; one sister, Ruth Sowers of Carterville, Ill.; one brother, Robert Proctor of Redding, Calif.; six grandsons; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son and one grandson. Visitation is today from 3 to 8:30 p.m., with the family present from 7 to 8:30, at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada. Memorials may be made to Memorial Lutheran Church.
