Frances Jane Mitchell was born September 19th 1853 in Hamilton county, Ohio On February 12th 1874 she was married to George Miltonberger at Middleton, Warren county, Ohio. To this union five children were born all of whom survive. She died at her home at Anselmo, Nebraska, March 12th 1915 aged 61 years 5 months and 21 days. She leaves her entire family, consisting of husband, three sons, Walter, William and Howard, all of Anselmo and two daughters, Mesdames McMillan of Thedford, Nebraska and D.F. Tooley of Kansas City, Missourri, besides several grand children and a host of friends to mourn her departure. "God thought to give earth, the sweetest thing in his Almighty power. So pondering deeply what it should be, one hour. In fondest love and joy outweighing every other, He opened wide the gates of Heaven and gave to Earth a mother." The long illness of Mrs. Miltonberger and the gradual constant decline of strength during the many, many weeks of her protracted illness, filled her loved ones with anxiety and alarm, and the tender loving ministrations of family and friends, the skill of Physicians, were combined to restore or sustain life longer on earth, but of no avail, and when the inevitable came on Friday eve., March 12, surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren, it was as the falling asleep of a tired child – none less a shock – nor did the watchful, grief stricken family relinquish their hold till the Angels clasped on the other side, and they were called upon realize the true meaning of the poet's words; "The circle is broken, One seat is forsaken, One heart from among us no longer will thrill. With joy, in our gladness, or grief in our ill." Services were held at the home last Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. C. W. Bohart and was attended by a large gathering of friends. The same evening the remains were shipped to North Bend, Nebraska, the old home of the family and there services were held in the M. E. Church the following morning the remains were shipped to Fremont, Nebraska and placed in the undertaking parlor to await completion of a tomb in the cemetery in North Bend which will be her final resting place. Marks of age may appear in our homes and in our person but the memory of wife and mother is more enduring than time itself. Who has stood by the grave of a wife and mother and not remembered her pleasant smile, kind words and earnest prayers? At this sad hour when the sympathies of near and dear friends and old and true acquaintances, of the entire community, go out to the bereaved family, let us try to find consolation in the following appropriate lines: " " A frost that dries the blades of corn. By the same action ripes the ears; As night is followed close by morn. Death here is life, in other spheres."
