Description	:	Frances L. Gruber, 95, of Ottumwa died September 28, 2019 at her home, Timber Ridge in Ottumwa. She was born May 18, 1924 in Ottumwa to Verlin and Eula Francis Altheide. She married Arthur F. Gruber November 1, 1942 and he preceded her in death April 20, 2014. A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1942, she was a farmer, child care provider and housekeeper. She married Arthur F. Gruber November 1, 1942 and he preceded her in death April 20, 2014. A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1942, she was a farmer, child care provider and housekeeper. Frances was a member of Zion Community Church of God, a volunteer for the Red Cross and for the Ecumenical Lord's Cupboard. She was a member of Ottumwa Regional Health Center Auxiliary and helped build a house for Habitat for Humanity. Surviving are six daughters, Sandra Orman of Blakesburg, Janice (Don) Francis of Kerrville, TX, Karen Burchfield of Denver, CO, Jenny Campbell of Spring Green, WI, Polly (Shep Shepard) Huffman of Kerrville, TX; Peggy (Tom) Christy of Ottumwa; 18 grandchildren, Mike Orman, Bonnie McMullin, Jim Orman, David Francis, Gail Francis, Tim Francis, Christy Dexter, John Burchfield, Frank Burchfield, Jessica Campbell, Christopher Campbell, Kelly Huffman, Mitchell Huffman, Annie Delaplane, Heather Kelly, Jenny Thomas, Jeremy Christy and Dexter Christy; 36 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons-in-law, Kenneth Orman and John Burchfield; two sisters, Shirley (Ora) Goode and Verna Williamson; an infant brother, Carl Dean Altheide; a brother-in-law, Dale (Ruby) Gruber. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Jesse Elkins officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Wednesday with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Community Church of God or The Good Samaritan Hospice.
