Description	:	Frances Lucille Rice, 94, of Clarks, died at Waterford in College View in Lincoln, on Monday, March 10, 2014. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 15, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Solt Funeral Home, in Central City, with Marilyn Wilson and Rev. Delano Cunningham officiating. Frances was born on February 7, 1920, in Clarks, to Clyde W. "Buck" and Mildred (Brittain) Mustard. She grew up in Clarks and graduated from Clarks High School. She met Albert Rice while tobogganing on Swedenburg Hill and they were married on August 14, 1939, in Central City. They lived in Neligh, Omaha, and Hastings, and returned to the Clarks and Central City area when WWII broke out. Frances and Albert farmed west of Clarks and then farmed near Palmer until 1973. They moved to Longmont, Colorado, where they managed and worked a ranch that had crops and race horses. After retiring, they returned to Clarks in 1982. Over the years, Frances and Albert enjoyed traveling in their motor home, boating and fishing. Albert died on May 26, 1991. Frances continued to live in Clarks until moving to Lincoln in 2011. Frances was a member of the Clarks United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School in Clarks and Palmer for a total of 19 years. She was a member of the Clarks Lions Club, Clarks Senior Citizens Center and the Warm Slough card club. Frances loved to play all card games and in her younger years, she played softball. Frances also enjoyed the time she spent babysitting her nieces and nephews. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Dwayne, and Jan Rice, of Lincoln; daughter-in-law, Susan Rice, of Lakewood, Colorado; four grandchildren, Danny Rice, Denise Chamberlain, Stephanie Janssen and Kurt Rice; nine great-grandchildren, Savanna Rice, Ryan and Nick Chamberlain, Shelby, Craig and Derek Janssen, and Kielan, Jace and Joslyn Rice; one brother, Dick and Rose Mustard, of Littleton, Colorado; and brother-in-law, Paul Schmid, of Monroe. Frances was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; son, William ‘Bill’ Rice, in 2011; infant son, Harold; two stillborn children; and five brothers and sisters, Wilma, Donald, Clyde, Jr., Neil, and Jackie.
