Fish home and took his wife and mother to eternal reward. Mrs. Fish had not been in good health since last fall and for several months had been confined to her bed. All that physicians and nurses could accomplish gave her only temporary relief and she gradually failed until death relieved her of her suffering. Although the Fish family has lived only three years, the sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved husband and two small sons who are left to mourn the untimely death , of the member of the circle. Mrs. Fish had taken an active part in the church and social life of the town until her health failed. She possessed unusual talent and graciously donated her services many times. She was unusually good accompanist and will be sadly missed by singers of this locality. Frances Merz, daughter of Arnold and Mary Mez, was born in Dunbar Marshall County Iowa, November 2, 1888. The family resided there and Keystone for several years and then moved to Cambridge where she grew to womanhood. She was a graduate of the Cambridge high school (of 1905) and attended Drake Universality. She taught in the Cambridge school (-pictured as a teacher in 1911-, book has her teaching 1911-1914)four years and served as deputy county treasurer six years. On January 14, 1923 , she was married to C.L. Fish and they established their home in Cambridge where they lived until moving to La Porte City three years ago. To this union two sons were born, Frank Arnold, age eight and James William age six. On November second of last year she submitted to a major operation from which she never fully recovered even though for a time complete restoration to health seemed assured. She gradually became weaker and passed quietly to her reward at her home in this city Sunday evening at eight-thirty. Early in her youth she united with the U.B. church of Cambridge where she was earnest and faithful worker and where she was always retained her membership. She was a charter member of the O.E.S. at Cambridge and a member of the literary circle of La Porte City. She leaves to mourn her passing besides her husband and two sons, her mother, father and her brother Miller Merz of Burlington, Ia. Funeral services was held from the Fish residence at ten O'clock Wednesday morning and was in charge Rev. W. F. Breacher, as pastor of the Evangelical Church . At the close of the service her remains was taken to the old home of the deceased at Cambridge for burial in the family lot in the cemetery at that place. When the funeral party arrived at the cemetery they were by nearly two hundred residence of Cambridge, who had assembled to honor the memory of Mrs. Fish . The burial service was said by Rev. Howard Mintle , pastor of U.B. church of Cambridge , after which the ritualistic service of the Order Of Eastern Star was exemplified at the grave by the members of the Cambridge Chapter, of which the deceased was a charter member.
