Pritchard died suddenly at the home in east Madison Friday evening at 5 o'clock. She had been in poor health for some time and had recently recovered from a serious attack. For several days prior to her death, she had seemed stronger and brighter than usual and much hope was felt for her recovery. Mrs. Pritchard came to this county with her parents, Harvey and Fannie Austin Norton, almost fifty years ago. The Nortons were among the early settlers in the Verdigris Valley and Mrs. Pritchard was acquainted with all the events of interest in this locality during the early days. She was a kind good woman and dearly loved by all who bore the pleasure of her acquaintance. Her death came as a shock to everyone and the large concourse of friends who gathered Sunday to pay final respect to one they loved was a fitting tribute to a good woman's life work in the community. Francis Marian Norton was born near Des Moines, Iowa July 29, 1844. With her parents, she moved to this county, near Hilltop, in 1859. On April 19, 1862, she married to Horatio Pritchard. She was the mother of thirteen children, all of whom with her husband survive her. The latter, B. H. Pritchard, J. E. Pritchard, Mrs. F. D. Hamer, Mrs. C. C. Starr and Mrs. C. W. Yoder, reside here. W. H. Pritchard lives at Sedalia, Mo; C. D. Pritchard, at Fall River, Kansas; Mrs. S. I. Borton at Lamar, Colo.; Mrs. W. E. Turner at El Dorado, Kansas; Mrs. H. L. Carson at Springfield, Mo.; Mrs. Richard Crebo, Jr., at Eureka, Kansas; Mrs. L. M. Conwell at Hamilton, Kansas; M. C. Pritchard, at Redland, California. All were present at the funeral except M. C. Pritchard and Mrs. Crebo. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Stranahan at the M. E. Church in this city at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 7, 1909, and was largely attended by the numerous friends and neighbors. The interment was at No. 8 cemetery. The deceased had suffered intensely but patiently for several years with acute rheumatism and passed to her reward at 5 p.m. February 5, 1909, after a brief struggle. She was well prepared for this and prayed for relief, having made her peace with God many years ago and being ready and willing to answer His summons at any time. She lived to the ripe age of 64 years, 6 months and 6 days.
