She was born on Feb. 23, 1921 in Creston to Ilo C. and Icel Mae Ambruster Hill. She married Elmer L. Box on Sept. 11, 1941. He preceded her in death on April 25, 1966. Marie had worked at Big B Cleaners, Gambles, Giant Foods and retired from Target in 1985. She had been a member of Christ Church where she was active in the Foster Grandparent program. She was born on Feb. 23, 1921 in Creston to Ilo C. and Icel Mae Ambruster Hill. She married Elmer L. Box on Sept. 11, 1941. He preceded her in death on April 25, 1966. Marie had worked at Big B Cleaners, Gambles, Giant Foods and retired from Target in 1985. She had been a member of Christ Church where she was active in the Foster Grandparent program. Marie attended Bloomfield and Drakesville United Methodist Churches and she enjoyed bluegrass festivals, camping and the Car Club. Surviving are two sons, Robert Earl Box, of Marshalltown, and George C.Box, of Loveland, Colo; three daughters, Jean McCallum, of Weiser, Idaho, Judy(Bing)McDaniel, of Toledo, Ohio, and Jane(Dean)Garrison, of Ottumwa; 20 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alberta(Harold)Liljedahl, of Fairfield. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Hill. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Thursday at Bloomfield United Methodist Church; with Rev. Kevin Gingerich officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Visitation begins at 11 am Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home, with family present from 6-8 pm Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice serving Wapello and Davis counties, Ottumwa, IA.
