Frances lived in the area for many years, and was the Sexton of the Ash Hollow Cemetery. Memorial Services were held Wednesday, November 22, 2000, at the Community Wesleyan Church in Lewellen, with the Rev. Lynn Lutz officiating, with inurnment at the Ash Hollow Cemetery Frances was the youngest of four children born to Frank John Kriha, and Nettie Jane (Vohland) Kriha. She was born at the family farm "in the draw" north of Big Springs, Nebraska, on July 23, 1925. She received her early education in Garden County, and later attended the academy at Sidney, graduating from Spalding Academy, Spalding, Nebraska, with the class of 1943. She then attended Kearney State College for one semester, returning to Garden County to teach school for one year. Frances married Eugene Delatour on February 16, 1946, at the Catholic Rectory in Oshkosh. They moved to the family ranch north of Lewellen. To this union four children were born, DyAnn Kaye, Jacqueline Sue, John Van Allen, and Eugene Jr. Also, brought into this union were foster children, Donald Gilbert (Butch) and William (Pete) Roberson. Frances was a wonderful cook for many years, cooking for her family, many hired men, and later cooking at the Ranch House Cafe, Vies Supper Club, and Lewellen Nursing home. She was a long time member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Royal Neighbors, served as Secretary of Ash Hollow Cemetery Board, sat on the elect board and volunteered to sit at the Garden County Exhibit Hall for many years. After the death of her husband, Frances moved to Lewellen where she became the unofficial taxi service for many of the elderly, and was the self-appointed storm watcher, and was the neighbor hood watch program before it even started. Frances is survived by her daughter, Jackie, sons and daughter-in-laws, Van and (Debbie), Gene, Butch and (Dawn), Pete and (Jody), twenty-two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to Lewellen Wesleyan Church, United Methodist Church, Oshkosh, St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Lewellen Rescue Unit, or donors choice. The Austin Funeral Home of Julesburg, Colorado was in charge of arrangements. Cremation took place prior to the service.
