Gates who had been in poor health for some time and who had been staying at the home of her son, John Culver, in Lincoln recently, was taken seriously ill last week and removed to a Lincoln hospital where she passed away on Friday. Frances Martha Standerwick, daughter of Isaac and Elizabeth Standerwick, was born May 25, 1876, at Dyersville, Iowa, and departed this life at Lincoln, Feb. 12, 1943, at the age of 66 years, eight months and 18 days. Gates who had been in poor health for some time and who had been staying at the home of her son, John Culver, in Lincoln recently, was taken seriously ill last week and removed to a Lincoln hospital where she passed away on Friday. Frances Martha Standerwick, daughter of Isaac and Elizabeth Standerwick, was born May 25, 1876, at Dyersville, Iowa, and departed this life at Lincoln, Feb. 12, 1943, at the age of 66 years, eight months and 18 days. Her early girlhood was spent at Dyersville. The family later came to Nebraska, settling in Boone county. On April 9, 1903, she was united in marriage to Hugh Culver. To this union two sons were born, John of Lincoln and Robert of York. On March 16, 1910 her husband passed away. In 1918 she was married to D. J. Gates of Albion, who preceded her in death in November 1940. She was one of four children in the Standerwick family. Two brothers preceded her in death. George Standerwick died at Omaha in May, 1941, and Will passed away in May 1942. One sister, Mrs. Sadie Cramer, of Oakland, Calif., survives. She leaves to mourn her loss her two sons and three grandchildren, Joan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Culver, and Barbara Lee and Rob Roy, daughter and son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Culver; her sister, Mrs. Cramer, and other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at the Smith Funeral home in Albion, conducted by Rev. L. N. Blough of the Methodist church. Instrumental music was furnished by Mrs. R. S. Hutchinson.
