Description	:	"Failing health of approximately three years ended in the death of Mrs. John Baker shortly before two o'clock this afternoon at her home 1863 Sherman street. She was one of Muscatine's pioneer residents, having made this city her home for almost half a century. She was seventy-five years of age. Mrs. Baker was the widow of an inventor who had 126 patents. Upon his death in Chicago seven years ago approximately 90 of these were being manufactured. While in Muscatine Mr. Baker established the Baker Manufacturing company, builders of steam boilers and various canning machinery.... Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Baker gained considerable repute as a writer having contributed many articles to leading magazines and newspapers. She was formerly Miss Frances Mary Anshultz, born in Galva, Illinois, March 22, 1846. As a child she moved with her parents to Leavenworth, Kans. Her marriage to Mr. Baker took place in St. Louis, Mo., April 21, 1867. After spending a few years in that city they moved to Rock Island, shortly afterwards removing to Muscatine. To survive her Mrs. Baker leaves four daughters, three sons, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Only one daughter resides here, Mrs. Irma Baker, having made her home with her mother. The sons who mourn her demise are Paul and Norman Baker of this city and John Baker of Los Angeles, Calif."
