Description	:	Frances (Miner) Clary, 78, of Gaffney, SC, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Asheville, NC. Born in Gaffney, she was the wife of Ray Ellison Clary and the daughter of the late J. W. Miner and Mable (Hawkins) Miner Patrick and John Lloyd Patrick. Read More	Frances (Miner) Clary, 78, of Gaffney, SC, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Asheville, NC. Born in Gaffney, she was the wife of Ray Ellison Clary and the daughter of the late J. W. Miner and Mable (Hawkins) Miner Patrick and John Lloyd Patrick. Mrs. Clary retired from the Cherokee County School System after teaching 38 years, was a graduate of Limestone College, received her Master's Degree from Converse College, was a Delta Kappa Gamma member, was a volunteer with the Cherokee County Literacy Association, was active in the Miss South Carolina pageant and the Miss Cherokee County pageant, where she was the former executive director and served as chaperone for several years. Mrs. Clary was a member of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church where she taught the four year old Sunday School Class for over 45 years, was a member of the WMU and choir. Mrs. Clary also received the Order of the Palmetto from former Governor Carroll Campbell. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, trusted friend and inspiring teacher. She was a quiet and faithful servant of God. Surviving is a son, Jay Ellison Clary and wife, Delette of Warner Robins, GA; a daughter, Jill Stevenson and husband, Dan of Asheville, NC; three grandchildren, Ellison Clary, Andrew Stevenson and Ben Kerscher; numerous cousins. The family received friends 5:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Clyde Thomas and Rev. Stuart Kersey officiating. Interment was in Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1449, Gaffney, SC 29342 or Cherokee County Literacy Association, P.O. Box 216, Gaffney, SC 29342.
