Description	:	Frances (Rummel) Lane, 95, of Great Falls, died of natural causes Sunday at a local hospital. Visitation is 3:30 to 6 p.m. today at Schnider Funeral Home. Funeral Liturgy is noon Thursday at St. Ann's Cathedral, followed by a reception at the Heisey. Burial will take place in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Burial will take place in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Our dear "Mom, Mother, Mommy," Frances Rummel Lane, age 95, went home to heaven to be with her Lord and our Daddy on Oct. 10, 2010. Mom died suddenly, 23 days after our daddy left this earth. Her "broken heart" was mended by being reunited with Daddy. Mom was born Feb. 6, 1915, during a classic North Dakota winter to Rosa (Frankenhauser) and Frank Rummel. Mom was the third youngest of 12 children and was raised on "The Farm" outside of Richardton, North Dakota, and was the last surviving member of her family of 14. Mother often told stories of baking bread every day to feed the older brothers who tended the farm, laundry day when she had the privilege of hauling water to be heated, and weeding the garden. As a child, she and her sisters played house under a grove of trees and swept the dirt as if it were the floor. After graduation from high school, Mom attended nurses' training, graduating as an RN from St. Mary's School of Nursing. During World War II, she worked at a hospital in Long Beach, Calif. She and all the other nurses would hang their blue nurses' capes over the hospital windows to shield the light during many a blackout for protection from enemy bombing. While working for an obstetrician in Billings, Montana, Mom met our daddy on a "sort of arranged date." Mom and Daddy were married May 14, 1949, in Malta, Mont. Their marriage lasted for 61 awesome, blessed years. Mother was the best mom, raising her three girls in Glendive, Montana. At our home, Mom kept up the nursing traditions. The towels were folded perfectly square, the bed corners were tucked in the nurses' way and her kitchen floor was so clean you could eat off it. The food was all made from scratch. During the summer our house witnessed gardening and canning marathons. Every thing was canned or frozen…at least 70-plus jars of each fruit and vegetable. Mom supported everything we three girls were involved in…4-H; county fairs, FHA (Future Homemakers of America), and girls' basketball/softball. Mom loved the Lord Jesus. Being part of the Catholic Church family was near and dear to her. Mom was organized with her many lists, a great cook, a green thumb with garden and flowers. Our mom loved her flowers, writing letters, reading the newspaper from cover to cover and watching news and political debate talk shows." Like our daddy, Mom had a servant's heart. Mother served her family faithfully. Upon "retiring" to Great Falls, Mom began a second career. She spent hours cooking, doing laundry and babysitting for her daughter Deanne and her family, whose husband Carl has battled Lou Gehrig's disease for 18 years. It was such a privilege to be her daughters. Mom blessed our lives over and over and over. We love you, Mom, and we will miss you until we meet again. It gives us peace and joy knowing that you and Daddy are together again. Survivors include daughters, Janice (Paul) Lambert, of Bozeman, and Deanne (Carl) Foley and Tracy Lane, both of Great Falls; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. In addition to her husband, Mom was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and five sisters.
