Ruth grew up on a farm in Moran, Kansas and graduated from high school there. On January 17, 1942, Ruth married Clifford Burtnett in Iola, Kansas. Ruth worked as a ladies ready-to-wear clerk for Ruth Lynn Dress Shop in Iola, Kansas and Ruth Druley's Dress Shop in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She retired in 1990. On November 24, 1990, Ruth married Vernon McKinley in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Ruth was a member of the PEO and the Pauls Valley First United Methodist Church. In her spare time she enjoyed collecting Hummels, horseback riding and bridge clubs. Mrs. McKinley is survived by her husband: Vernon C. McKinley of the home; one son: Jerry Burtnett and his wife Lucy of Wichita, Kansas; two daughters: Chari Sowers and her husband Jim of Derby, Kansas, and Linda Sue Shipp and her husband Ray of Chanute, Kansas; one brother: Kenneth Bacon and his wife Lucy of Moran, Kansas; one sister: Margaret Fuston and her husband Donald of Lawrence, Kansas; one sister-in-law: Cecelia Rakestraw of Midwest City, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Mrs. McKinley was preceded in death by her husband: Clifford Burtnett; her parents: Leslie and Mattie Bacon; and two brothers: Herman Bacon and Floyd Bacon. Funeral services for Mrs. McKinley are scheduled for Friday, November 7, 2008 at 2 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma with Dr. Bob Kanary officiating. Interment will be on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 3 p.m. in the Highland Cemetery in Iola, Kansas with Chaplain Lloyd Houk officiating under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.
