Church Street, Buffalo, widow of Leroy Garner, died July 1, 2003, at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home after a long illness. Mrs. Garner was born in Buffalo on Oct. 4, 1916, a daughter of the late Grover and Nancy Faucette Vinson. She was retired from United Merchants, Buffalo Plant, after 40 years. Mrs. Garner was a member of Putman Baptist Church and the Guiding Light Sunday School Class of the church. Mrs. Garner was born in Buffalo on Oct. 4, 1916, a daughter of the late Grover and Nancy Faucette Vinson. She was retired from United Merchants, Buffalo Plant, after 40 years. Mrs. Garner was a member of Putman Baptist Church and the Guiding Light Sunday School Class of the church. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Kaye G. and Horace Corbett of Union; two sisters, Mrs. Clifford (Hazel ) Lawson and Mrs. Caleb (Lillian) Sherbert, both of Buffalo; a grandson, Garner Corbett of Rock Hill and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Garner was predeceased by a brother, William H. (Bill) Vinson and three sisters, Grace Stone, Mary Smith and Eva Sanders. Funeral services will be held 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Putman Baptist Church by the Rev. Donald Tillman. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Dennis Sherbert, Harold Gregory, Martin Allen, Glenn Sherbert, Tim Sizemore, Ricky Scott and Sammy Scott. The members of the Guiding Light Sunday School Class of Putman Baptist Church are asked to sit in a group. The body will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 8:30 and will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m. Thursday to await the hour of service. The family is at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Horace (Kaye) Corbett, 113 Crestview Dr., Union, S.C. 29379. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
