| Description | : | Obituary: Miss Franceska Maxey, 83, a Kittitas Valley resident 63 years and one of its oldest remaining pioneers, died at a hospital here early today after an illness of three weeks. Miss Maxey was born January 18, 1862 near Mount Vernon, Illinois. She came to Ellensburg with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Maxey, in 1881. They went to San Francisco by train, to the The Dalles, Oregon, by boat, and to Ellensburg by wagon, arriving in the Valley, October 31, 1882. She was a life long member of the Methodist Church.
