Malvern Leader Thursday Jan 15, 1914 Frank Wilkinson - - Word was received here Tuesday morning stating that Frank Wilkinson had been found dead in a room in the Neumayer hotel at Council Bluffs, and his son-in-law, F.E. Hatfield, left for that place immediately and took charge of the body, bringing it to Randolph yesterday morning. Mr. Wilkinson had been in very poor health for a number of years and since last fall had been in the government sanitarium at Hot Springs, South Dakota. He had left there the latter part of last week to go to the Iowa Soldier's home at Marshalltown, but had not advised relatives here of his intentions and the news of his death was a shock to them. Reaching Council Bluffs on Saturday he became too ill to travel and stopped to rest. Feeling much better Monday evening he engaged an ambulance to take him to the station the following morning. About 10 o'clock Monday evening the hotel clerk, knowing he was sick, called at his room and found him partially on the bed and in a serious condition. He notified the proprietor, but before the latter arrived he passed away. The body was removed to an undertakers and the coroner notified, who found papers on his person that identified him. Frank A Wilkinson was born July 10, 1840, near Syracuse, N.Y. where he resided until twelve years old and then went with his parents to Darlington, Wisconsin. Here he was married March 20, 1863, to Miss Susan Sturgeon, and on Nov. 18 of that year enlisted in Co B, 3rd Reg. Wis. Cav. and served until Aug. 26, 1865, when he received his discharge and returned to Wisconsin. In the spring of 1882 they came to Randolph and this has since been their home. He engaged in paper hanging and painting. Ten children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Wilkinson of whom five are living, they being Mrs. G.C. Boston of Malvern, A.E. of San Diego, Cal., Fred of Clarinda, Mrs. F.E. Hatfield of this place and Mrs. H.E. Lamb of Chadron, Neb., all of whom, with the exception of A.E. and Fred, are expected here for the funeral. Funeral services will be held this morning at 10 o'clock from the home of their daughter, west of town conducted by Rev. Poston, and interment will be in the Randolph cemetery. To the relatives heartfelt sympathy is extended.
