Boyd was born November 4, 1922, to Francis Hansen and Margaret (Kerr) Leishman at Wellsville, Utah. He spent his early years in Drummond, Montana and finished his education at Charlo, MT. Boyd Leishman, 81, a long time Wenatchee businessman, died Saturday morning, July 3, 2004, in Central Washington Hospital as the result of leukemia. Boyd was born November 4, 1922, to Francis Hansen and Margaret (Kerr) Leishman at Wellsville, Utah. He spent his early years in Drummond, Montana and finished his education at Charlo, MT. He loved baseball and boxing, and in Charlo he pitched for the City League. He was a Montana State Boxing Champion for his weight. On May 24, 1941, he married Aurise Marie Dellwo in Ronan, MT. He enlisted in the US Army in May, 1943, at Butte, MT and was honorably discharged in November of 1945, at Ft Douglas, UT. Boyd served in the Normandy Invasion and was just honored with the Normandy "Freedom" medal at the 2004 Apple Blossom Festival. Boyd made his living as a barber in Wenatchee for over 55 years. He began barbering with Bill Childers, three years later he joined his brother-in-law, Ed Dellwo. In 1959, he opened his own barbershop. He officially retired in 1985, but continued to treat his customers with the old time shavings and crewcuts at Bud's Barber Shop, his old shop, until Wednesday, June 23, 2004. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, RVing, and in his later years, golfing. He also enjoyed spending time creating woodworking crafts, especially birdhouses for his family. He was a member of the Wenatchee Eagles. Survivors include his wife, Aurise, at the family home; four sons, Al (Sue) Leishman of East Wenatchee, Nick (Sandy) Leishman of Wenatchee, Kenny (Cindy) Leishman of East Wenatchee, and Dave (Marilyn) Leishman of East Wenatchee; his mother, Margaret Clawson of Charlo, MT; sisters, LaVae (Harmon) Groesbeck of Idaho Falls, ID and Ranae (Bud) Rowley of Great Falls, MT; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, three brothers and a sister. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon, July 8, 2004, in the Colonial Chapel of the Jones and Jones Funeral Home. Concluding services and the interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. If desired, memorials may be made to Central Washington Hospital Hospice or to the charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones and Jones Funeral Home.
