Description	:	Frank Welch, age 90, of 1703 Story Street, died December 26, 2008, at the Eastern Star Masonic Home. His body has been cremated and a Memorial Service will be Wednesday, December 31, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at the Central Christian Church with Rev. Paul Fraser officiating. Burial of his cremains will be in the Sparks Cemetery, southwest of Boone. Presentation of the American Flag will be conducted by the Boone Veterans Council. Frank was born April 27, 1918, in Webster City, Iowa, the son of Lawrence and Edna (Johnson) Welch. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1937. On October 22, 1941, Frank married Juanita Tolliver in Denver, Colorado. He served with the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He spent most of his life in Boone. Frank was a photographer, and for 38 years, he owned Welch Studio in Boone, retiring in 1985. Frank was a member of the Boone Noon Kiwanis Club, Boone Toastmasters, American Legion #56, Iowa Polka Club, and Iowa Antique Bottle Club. Frank was an active member of the Central Christian Church. He worked with the youth group and was a deacon, elder, and served as Chairman of his Church Board. Frank also was active in Boy Scouts and served as Cub Master and was District Training Chairman. Frank enjoyed reading, photography, writing, and his computer. He is preceded in death by his parents. Frank is survived by his wife, Juanita of Boone; a son, Reverend Ted Welch and wife Jan of Zearing; a daughter, Joan Perkins and husband Sheldon of Bella Vista, Arkansas; three brothers, Lester Welch and wife Nancy of Fullerton, California, Larry Hartley and wife Leanne of Fort Dodge, and John Hartley and wife Ardys of Cedar Park, Texas; a sister, Mary Alice Hanson and husband, Vernon of Bishop, Texas; five grandchildren: Ted Reader of Boone, Maria Reader of Corvallis, Oregon, Ted Welch Jr. of Brownton, Minnesota, Heather Kern of Newton, and Matt Welch of Warsaw, Missouri; eight great grandchildren; and two great-great granddaughters. Friends may call at the Central Christian Church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the 10:00 a.m. service. Memorials may be given to his church.
