Description	:	Francis Earl Nichols, third child of William and Sarah Nichols, was born in Bradford, Wiltshire, England, August 22, 1855, and passed from this life at his home in Fairmont, Nebraska, on March 19, 1941, having reached the age of 85 years, 6 months and 25 days. He came with his parents to America in the summer of 1856 and for a short time lived at Columbus, Ohio. From there they moved to Burlington, Iowa, and settled on a farm north of Burlington in 1857. Read More	Francis Earl Nichols, third child of William and Sarah Nichols, was born in Bradford, Wiltshire, England, August 22, 1855, and passed from this life at his home in Fairmont, Nebraska, on March 19, 1941, having reached the age of 85 years, 6 months and 25 days. He came with his parents to America in the summer of 1856 and for a short time lived at Columbus, Ohio. From there they moved to Burlington, Iowa, and settled on a farm north of Burlington in 1857. In 1869, with his parents, he moved again to Sandridge, Iowa. On June 27, 1878, he was united in marriage to Anna N. Harris of Red Oak, Iowa, and they began their life together on a farm near Red Oak. To this union was born one son, William Earl, now of Atlantic, Iowa. They moved to Nebraska in 1885 and located on a farm near Greenwood. While farming he was also engaged in the business of stock buying. In 1889 they moved into Greenwood and lived there until 1919, when they came to Fairmont and have since made their home here. Besides his widow and son, he leaves to mourn: two sisters, Tillie Nichols and Anna Nichols, both of Burlington,, Iowa; also three grandchildren, Everett Earl of Fairmont, Francis Henry and Faye Marjorie of Atlantic; and two great-grandchildren, Jean and Marvin Nichols of Fairmont. Three brothers and two sisters have preceded him in death. Mr. Nichols and his wife attended the Fairmont Methodist church while they were able to be about. In all his relationships with those about him, he was a Christian gentleman. He will be missed, not only by his widow, and immediate family, but by all those who knew him. Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon, March 23, in the Fairmont Methodist church, the pastor, Rev. R.W. Sandsted officiating. A mixed quartet consisting of Mrs. Adaline Stines, Mrs. W.R. Dorrance, Oliver Moul and Wayne Nicholls sang, with Mrs. A.A. Ashby at the piano. Interment was in the Fairmont cemetery. Pallbearers were Charles Peterson, George White, George Schepers, W.R. Dorance, Ora Robbins and R.V. Starks.
