Mr. McBride was born in Jonesville on Oct. 7, 1938, a son of the late Lewis and Edith Horne McBride. (Friday) McBride, 64, husband of Billie Laval McBride of 265 Parks Farm Road, Jonesville, died Jan. 20, 2003, at 1:45 p.m. in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after a short illness. Mr. McBride was born in Jonesville on Oct. 7, 1938, a son of the late Lewis and Edith Horne McBride. He was a member of Jonesville United Methodist Church, a former member of the South Carolina National Guard and was a member of the Lan-Yair Country Club. Mr. McBride was a graduate of Jonesville High School and was retired from Milliken & Co., where he had been employed for 32 years and at the time of his retirement he was Location Manager for Midway Distribution Center. Surviving in addition to his wife are a brother, James Randall (Randy) McBride of Jonesville; a sister, Brea Kay McBride of West Springs; two nieces and two nephews, Jennifer Marshall Laval of Columbia and Katelan Sanford of West Springs, William Lawrence Laval IV of Columbia and Jerome Louie McBride of Spartanburg. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Holcombe's Jonesville Chapel by the Rev. Scott Gilmer. Burial will be in the Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Ronald T. Purkey, Jimmy Robinson, Perry Buice Jr., Gene Croxdale, James (Buck) Collins and Dan Baughman. Employees of Midway Distribution Center are asked to assemble at the funeral chapel at 2:15 p.m. to form the honorary escort. The family will receive friends at the funeral chapel Wednesday from 1-2:30 p.m. The family is at the home, 265 Parks Farm Road, Jonesville. Memorials may be made to Jonesville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 787, Jonesville, S.C. 29353. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
