Description	:	The death record for F.E. Knox, shows he died January 28, 1891, in Centerville, Iowa. The obituary, which I have transcribed below, was found in a scrapbook at the Wapello County Genealogy Society, and the date hand-written in for the publication date was January 30, 1891. This obituary states that he died “last night.” Since the obituary specifically states that the funeral was to be the 30th, I believe the death date of January 28 is correct. Obituary From “Ottumwa Weekly Courier,” January 30, 1891: A telegram received by friends in this city this morning announcing the sudden death of Ed Knox, of Centerville, Iowa. Mr. Knox was clerk in Ecker’s drug store for a long time and made many friends in this city who will be pained to hear of his death. His age was 23 years. The funeral will take place at 2 p.m. at Chillicothe, Iowa, the 30th. A number of his friends here will attend. Edward Knox, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Knox, of Chillicothe, died at Centerville last night of erysipelas. Edward was well known here and throughout the county, having clerked in a drug store here and later in T.J. Williams’ drug store at Eddyville. At the time of his death he was the proprietor of a drug store at Centerville and was doing well. The remains will be taken to Chillicothe tonight and interred in the cemetery there.
