Read More	Globe Gazette Mason City, Iowa Wednesday, 27 November 1929 MANY ATTEND M'GLONE RITES Physician is buried at Dougherty following sudden death Dougherty, Nov. 27. - Funeral services for Dr. Francis Edward McGlone, who died at his home in Dougherty Thursday from a sudden attack of heart disease, were held in the St. Patrick's Catholic Church here Monday. Although his health had been poor for some time, Dr. McGlone's death was unexpected. He was one of the pioneers in the medical profession in Mason City and in Cerro Gordo County. He first took up his practice in Rockwell in 1895 upon graduation from the University of Iowa. He moved to Mason City in 1904 and held a huge practice until 1924 when ill health obliged him to give up his work. He then moved to Dougherty. Dr. McGlone was born in Jesup in 1870. He married Miss Annie Dougherty, a daughter of Daniel Dougherty, Cerro Gordo pioneer and founder of the town, in 1899. Mrs. McGlone died in 1904. He is survived by two daughters, Dorothy and Frances, and five sisters. They are Sister Mary Octavia, St. Xavier's College; Mr. and Mrs. M. Meany of Mason City; Mrs. Elizabeth Horn, Deer Trail, Colo.; Mrs. Henry Schmidt, Oklahoma City; Mrs. Joseph Casey of Kansas; and Miss Catherine McGlone, Norman, Okla. He is also survived by one brother, John McGlone, of Norman, Okla. Honorary pallbearers at the funeral were Henry Hughes of Mason City; Joseph C. Campbell of Charles City; Thomas Clark of Mason City; J.B. McGaheran of Rockwell; John BercherLawler, T.J. Kelsh, Richard Lalor and Thomas McManus, all of Dougherty. Active pallbearers were Edward Blake, Mason City; John Campbell Jr., Dumont; Claude Keenan, Rockwell; M.E. Hogan, James J. Mullin and William Boyle, Dougherty. The celebrant at the mass was the Rev Father Patrick Dougherty, a nephew from Chicago, assisted by the Rev. E.J. Doughetty of Cresco, deacon; and the Rev. John Hartigan, Rockwell, subdeacon. The master of ceremonies was the Rev. J.J. Collins of Dougherty. The Rev John Stuart preached the sermon. Many friends and relatives from out of town attended the funeral, among whom were: Judge Martin J. Wade, Iowa City; Joseph Dougherty, Butte, Mont.; James Dougherty, Omaha; Beatrice Wade, Chicago; Martin J. Wade, Jr., Ottumwa; Mrs. Mary Daly, South Dakota; Mr. and Mrs. Lester Becker, Dubuque. Among those of the clergy attending were the Very Rev. William Convery of Charles City; the Very Rev. P.S. O'Connor, Mason City; the Rev. Richard Murphy, Mason City; the Rev. John Malloy, Belmond; the Rev. Alex Heatherington, Riceville; the Rev. T.A. Barry, Webster City; the Rev. M.J. Hogan, Greene; the Rev. Joseph Boyle, St. Paul; the Rev. Patrick Boyle, Grundy Center; the Rev. J.M. Campbell, Ames; the Rev. J.V. Bacci, Mason City; the Rev. P.J. Malone, Rockford; the Rev. James Hammill, Parkersburg; and the Rev. Herbert Kreiger, Mason City; and the Rev. John Reynolds, Riceville, Ia.
