Description	:	Francis Elis was born in Jimromor, Czechoslovakia, December 10, 1855. In this village and land of her birth, she spent her childhood days, attending the village school. At the age of 21, a new happiness came into her life, for in the year of 1876, Francis was married to Vincent Elis. Together in the land of their birth, for eight years the young couple lived, until 58 years ago, they forsook their native land to seek a home in America, in Knox county, Nebraska. Read More	Francis Elis was born in Jimromor, Czechoslovakia, December 10, 1855. In this village and land of her birth, she spent her childhood days, attending the village school. At the age of 21, a new happiness came into her life, for in the year of 1876, Francis was married to Vincent Elis. Together in the land of their birth, for eight years the young couple lived, until 58 years ago, they forsook their native land to seek a home in America, in Knox county, Nebraska. They firmly established a homestead near Pischelville. After proving up on their homestead, they purchased the Rohr farm upon the banks of the Niobrara River. Here Francis spent the remainder of her years. This is where her husband, Vincent, died March 19, 1938, leaving her to carry on alone. The burden of years, pressing ever more upon her shoulders, sought her out after a long and happy life and brought to her the peace of the dead. She died, November 14 at the home of her daughter, after a two weeks illness at the age of 86 years, 11 months and 4 days. Three sons and one daughter survive their pioneer mother, Adolph, Vincent, Frank and Josephine (William Ruzicka) of the Pischelville community. Also surviving are one sister, Anna Chvala, of Monowi, s step brother Joseph Bem, twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was a member of Western Bohemian Fraternal Association, Sladkovsky Lodge #8, Pischelville. Services were held at her daughter's home near Pischelville, conducted by Joseph Broz in Czech and W.J.
