Mr. Lucas had never fully recovered from an attack of the flu, which he had about the first of the year. Tuesday while at the Don C. Mather Lumber Co. officie he suffered a sinking spell and was taken to his daughter's home in Lakeside, Mrs. Hoffman. The next day he felt better and was able to be taken out to his home. The end came suddenly Sunday morning while he was shaving. Mr. Lucas a man of a most sociable disposition, made a host of friends since his coming here to live in 1902 and there were many at his funeral to pay their last humble respects. Frank Lucas was born Sep. 12, 1855 at Tournai, Belgium, right near the French border. It was there that he grew to manhood. He served five years in the French army, in the cavalry division and saw active service in Algiers where he was wounded. After being honorably discharged from the army, in 1880, he came to the US and settled in Central Pennsylvania. It was in 1886 at Munson Station, Penn., that he and Miss Elizabeth Ann Fishburn were married. The and family moved to Chelan in 1903 where Mr. Lucas homesteaded a place on the South Butte and this has been their home ever since. There were eight children born to Mr. and Mrs. Lucas, two of the children Joseph and Frank passing in infancy and Helen who died at age 18 months. The children who survive with Mrs. Frank Lucas, to mourn his passing are: Mrs. Ray O'Neil, Chelan, Mrs. Harry Hoffman, Lakeside, F. C. Lucas, Chelan, Mrs. John Brusch, Yakima and Mrs. Clarence Weller, Yakima.
